As we cozy on up by the fireplace
We warm up our hands with a steaming mug
Of hot Borovan to put a smile on our face

There’s nothing quite like this drink
When you wake up on a cold winter’s day
And snow blankets the ground for miles
So inside in the warmth is where we’ll stay

As you smell the steam rising from the cup
Maybe you put on some music to relax to

I've heard borovan is so popular now,
but how?

a drink with chocolate and asparagus?
that sounds somewhat... perilous!!

no no no, I could never try that!
in fact, I'd rather eat my hat! 

but, it smells so inviting and warm,
do I take a sip? no, no way. I can't conform!

I do not like this drink! 
I do not want this... I don't think?

try the borovan they say! it'll be great!
I stare at that mug, sitting on its plate.

the green stalky vegetable rests on the brim,
I stir the drink, as the lights grow dim.

nothing I've tried has ever been like this,

I gulp it down and ask for more,
I never expected to be a fan, that's for sure.

Real-life Borovan

The time has come again,
Just like it does every year,
To tut and brew some Borovan,
And to raise our glass in cheer.

This year though I thought I'd take
A different approach to Borovan Day,
So instead of Borovan in Neopia,
I'll have some the real-life way.

I got out sauce pan and some milk,
And a couple of asparagus stalks -
I pulled down the chocolate,
And stirring sticks straight from the box.

I began at the stove,
Heating up the pan just right -
I warmed up the milk,
And added the chocolate from low height.

When the chocolate melted
Into that creamy brew,
I added my asparagus -
But just a piece or two.

I set it to simmer,
And I added the right spice -
I must admit to my surprise,
It actually smelled quite nice.

I poured my Borovan in a cup,
And took a tiny sniff - 
Up close I smelt Asparagus,
And it was quite a whiff.

Resolved, I brought my lovely cup
And took my first sip -
Sadly dearest reader, 
My reaction is no quip.

Let me tell you that
I probably won't do this next year -
My Neopets may like Borovan,
But my family now lives in fear.

"Mama, what is THIS?"
"Honey, what did you do?"
Even the youngest turned his nose up
At my Neopian brew!

So Neopia - I beseech you,

I have a strong fascination
With the bizarre combination,

I'll never forget the coffee shop,

As I wait for my mug to cool,
I have to make sure I don't drool.

But then we started adding spice!

Another year I tried Borovan in a cone
And my mind was blown!
Despite the fact that there was a snowstorm
