Card of the Day

Every day (well, most of them) we will release a new Card of the Day. Keep checking back, as you never know what interesting strategies and combos you will find!

85. MEERCA SPY

Hints and Tips

This rather nefarious little creature is getting paid by Lord Kass to find out the Meridellians secrets, and what a good job he is doing. Yes, the Meerca Spy, in my humble opinion is one of the best cards in the whole Battle for Meridell set.

As a species, Meercas are quite dextrous, and a perfect choice for the Agility Arena. The Yellow Meerca and the Red Meerca have an agility that would rival any Mynci! The Meerca Spy however with an Agility of 13 ranks among the top, beaten by the Mynci Tourist of course, but he doesn't do much else than sit on a beach and drink cocktails.

The reason that you want to put a Meerca Spy in your deck is, of course, his special ability. Every turn you get to look at the top card of your opponent's deck and choose whether to keep it there, or put it to the bottom. Your opponent doesn't even get to see the card! This is a fantastic ability, mainly due to the fact that every turn you get to minimise the chance of your opponent drawing an item by continually putting anything bankable at the bottom of his or her deck. This can reaaaallly slow down your opponent.

Also, most special abilities on Experienced Neopets work only when they win a contest, roll a 6 or something special happens. The Darigan Skeith and Mynci Inventor are examples of this. The Meerca Spy works every single go whether or not you do anything with him.

Lastly, the Meerca Spy works very well with a couple of other cards. NeoQuest Board Game has more of a chance of working if you know what your opponent has in his hand. Also, use Marketplace to amplify the effects of the spy. If you have a Pant Devil Attacks or a Nothing Has Happened in your hand knowing what your opponent is about to pick up will also give you the edge!
