Neopets TCG

Card of the Day

Every day (well, most of them) we will release a new Card of the Day. Keep checking back, as you never know what interesting strategies and combos you will find!

2. COOTY

Hints and Tips

Yay for new mechanics! The Return of Dr. Sloth set expands the Neopets TCG in many ways - cool new ability types, interesting new heroes, and now this... Petpetpets! A Petpet is (obviously) a pet owned by a Neopet. A Petpetpet however is more of a little flea, or tick that lives on a Petpet. They are extremely small, but it doesn't mean they aren't useful, well, in the TCG at least.

Petpetpets are natural complements for Petpet decks (think Kacheek Shepherd!) Usually people playing Petpet decks will select a complement of Petpets with good statistics such as Kadoatie, Drackonack and Noil, and then use four-point bank items such as Illusen's Charm. Petpetpets, however, open up an interesting new strategy.

A Cooty is classified as an Item. Although only worth 2 points, if you play it in a contest, and your contesting Neopet or Hero has a Petpet attached to them, you get to bank it for free! Your bank value increases by two, and because you won the contest you get to bank again, or draw.

If you have Cooties in your deck you have that unexpected edge over your opponent. Either play them in the first couple of rounds to get that early-game advantage, or keep them until you are nearing 15 points for a one-turn win.

Cooty obviously goes well with Petpets. Also cards like Petpetnip, Kacheek Shepherd, and Armoury of Kass will help. Playing against Cooty? Consider using Pant Devil Attacks, or Turtum to bounce Petpets back to your opponent's hand.

Lastly, remember what I said the other day about Retribution ... having lots of little items in your bank can be often more beneficial than small numbers of high point items.

Tomorrow... the Doctor himself.
