Neopets TCG Card of the Day
Every day (well, most of them) we will release a new Card of the Day. Keep checking back, as you never know what interesting strategies and combos you will find!
Hints and Tips In a word - ouch. Fire has had bank destruction before, but never anything on this level! Anyway, whats that in the picture... looks like some sort of spaceship, and it's blowing up a moon base... hmmm I hope nobody was hurt. Anyway, sorry, where was I... Retribution is one of the most powerful Something Has Happened cards released in the Neopets TCG to date. It allows you to conduct bank destruction on a massive scale, but beware, both players are vulnerable to its effects. When you play Retribution both players roll a dice for every item in their bank, one roll per item. If the value on the dice is lower than the bank value of the item, that item is destroyed in a horrible burst of laser fire. Here is a quick breakdown of the probabilities of destruction for different types of items. The Science Part
Basically, people who rely on cards with large bank values are at risk. Take your average player who likes to bank food cards. Let's call him Mr. Food. With four 4-point food items banked, Mr. Food is on 16 points, and two banks away from victory. Playing Retribution at this point will take an average of 8 bank points away from him - double ouch! There are two strategies with Retribution. The first is playing with low-point items. Banking one and two point cards is usually a slow climb to victory, but there are a few neat cards that you can use such as Scroll of Recall, Grimoire of Thade and Dark Graspberry that will give you bonuses as a result. By playing low-point cards you can use Retribution without fear, you have a much less chance of losing cards than your opponent does, and even if you do lose one - the loss in bank value is negligible. The second strategy is the Muhahahaha strategy. Simply don't bank, draw instead. Build up a really good hand of cards, pile weapons and armour on your Neopets, basically play defensively. When your opponent is up to around sixteen, seventeen points unleash the power of Retribution and watch his bank value plunge. Why not do it a couple of times for added effect. You should now be in a great position to come back and win the game. Don't be too surprised when your opponent puts three Nothing Has Happeneds into his deck however...
