Neopets TCG

Card of the Day

Every day (well, most of them) we will release a new Card of the Day. Keep checking back, as you never know what interesting strategies and combos you will find!

26. TAELIA THE SNOW FAERIE

Hints and Tips

Now that our plot has started, it's time to introduce you to some more of the characters. Today is our first hero - yes, no plot about Terror Mountain would be complete without Taelia the Snow Faerie.

Taelia is a Water Hero, and fits in nicely with that horrible, frustrating Water-based mechanic of stopping your opponent's Neopets untapping on their next turn. Look at the sticky Slorg Trails for instance, very annoying indeed!

Although Taelia is really not going to help you win a contest in Strength, and she probably won't be a benefit in Agility, her high Intelligence and Magic should give you the edge. Playing Taelia is all about stopping your opponent using one of his or her Neopets however, which is an incredibly powerful benefit. You aren't simply taking away one of three potential banks from your opponent, you are stopping them using the Neopet they are most likely to win a contest with.

The Neopets TCG is all about arena advantage. If you are winning in two arenas and your opponent is winning in one then you will simply bank your cards twice as fast. You have a limited amount of cards in your hand to try and turn the situation in each arena to your advantage. If a single card, be it Self-Destruct Sequence, Volcanic Eruption or whatever can turn the game around in your favour then that card has really earned a place in your deck.

Look at Eliv Thade for instance. He will probably be found in most decks because his high intelligence will mean he can pretty much always lock down the Intelligence arena. However, you may be winning in Intelligence and therefore would not want to put him there. Eliv is never a wasted card, because you can always place him in Agility or Strength, beat him yourself, draw a card and then untap.

Taelia the Snow Faerie is quite similar, she is never wasted. The very fact that she stops your opponent using his or her most powerful Neopet on the next turn is reason enough to put her in your deck. If she helps you win in Magic or Intelligence, well that's just a bonus :)
