Neopets TCG

Card of the Day

Every day (well, most of them) we will release a new Card of the Day. Keep checking back, as you never know what interesting strategies and combos you will find!

6. GORIX

Hints and Tips

You may have seen Gorix before in our Beckett Magazine comic. Yes, he was originally one of the Grundos imprisoned (and nearly mutated) by Dr. Sloth the last time he tried to invade Neopia. Thankfully the doctor failed... who knows what Neopia would be like if he had succeeded (full of mutants at a guess). Now Gorix is back to fight another day!

Gorix is the first Hero that we have featured from the Return to Dr. Sloth set. And by the looks of the villains, you are going to need as many Heroes as possible! As you know, Heroes come into play for just one turn, vanishing to the discard pile at the end, well, unless you have Lisha's Wand. Heroes cannot tap to move or equip, however they usually have fantastic stats and cool abilities as well.

Gorix, however is not great in the stats department. You probably will never play him to start a contest in the Strength, Intelligence or Magic arenas as his stats are barely enough to squeeze a win past an Experienced Neopet. He does have an Agility of 17 however. Good enough to win most contests, even against Farlax V or the Court Dancer. The reason you will use Gorix though, is his special ability.

When Gorix comes into play you may attach an Equipment from your discard pile to one of your Neopets or Heroes. Gorix, being two alignments is quite easy to play, and this ability is extremely handy in all sorts of decks. Bear in mind that not only do you get his heroic stats, this is a Something Has Happened-type effect for free! Also, because you aren't actually playing the Equipment card, any pre-requisites (such as only play on a Fire Neopet) are ignored. You could use this card to attach a Moltenore to a Poogle Racer if you really wanted!

Also, this is a really neat way of attaching Equipment to Heroes. Remember Heroes cannot tap to equip themselves, to do so you need to tap one of your other Neopets. Or you could use Gorix.

The problem is, however, how often do you have Equipment in your discard pile? Usually you either bank it or equip it to your Neopets. To take advantage of this great Hero you should be using cards that give you advantages for discarding. Jhudora, Jhudora's Wand, 105 Castle Secrets, and JubJub Engineer work really well with Gorix. Also why not use Reinforcements... it's Air, allows you to put Heroes in your hand, and you also discard any equipm.... hmmmm... I have an idea for a deck!

Tomorrow ... Kougra Trooper (subject to change)
